The page number fields are usually in the headers or footers of the document (the only places guaranteed not to slide from page to page if the text is edited), so double clicking on one should enable you to delete the page number the same way you would delete any text.

Try going up to your tool bar. Click on the number icon 123. Choose none. Hope this will help.
