Help with page numbering in Microsoft Word?

I am trying to number the pages of an essay within the header. I need the title page to simply be labeled ';i'; and the following pages to include a subtitle and a page number. I have the subtitle and the page numbers inserted, but it included the title page in the numbering and I can't get the text off of the title page. How can I make the first page different from the rest and start the numbering after it?

You are probably going to have to delete your numbering but open ';View Header and Footer'; One of the icons is for ';Page Set Up'; Choose ';different first page'; then the header on page one will say ';first page header'; insert what you want. Then move to the second page and insert your numbering as usual and that should continue for the rest of the paper. ope this helps.
