How to set auto numbering in the header in a .doc file?

Here's the question:-





I want to set a template that everytime when i open a new words file, the number in the header will auto run...





for example, now i open one .doc with ref # 0001


Then now i saved %26amp; close it and i open another new .doc file, i want it to auto run to ref #0002.





anyone know how to do it?

I don't know of any simple way to carry the last number assigned over to the next document. You could do it with a document variable in the template and some Visual Basic for Applications programming, but that requires some programming skill.

Check the help system in Word. Too easy. However to do it, go to view %26gt; header and footer %26gt; then choose the page numbering from there.
