What are your thoughts on naming tables vs numbering them?

If you're already married and you named your tables, did guests have an easy or difficult time finding their table?

Also, what table names did you use and was there a certain significance to them? What are your thoughts on naming tables vs numbering them?
Guests didn't have problems finding their tables. We also had hostesses who had mini maps of the room to direct them in the right direction too.

We used words related to a healthy marriage: love, laughter, devotion, honesty, patience, trust etc. I've also been to weddings where they used the fruits of the Spirit which can be found in Galatians.

Try using names that pick up on your wedding theme, how you met, or your favorite hobby. I attended a wedding where the theme was butterflies, so each table was named after a different species of butterfly. And another where the couple met in college and they name the tables after different popular locations at their college. And finally another where the couple used names of countries they visited on vacation.

You can definately be creative...What are your thoughts on naming tables vs numbering them?
Hi

Yes i named the tables ,The guests found them no bother there was a list of names and numbers on a list outside the dining area i found it a great way to mix the guests so that both familys got to know oneanother during the meal
i don't think naming vs numbering is any harder to locate.

we went to a wedding that had names on the tables ... they used mountains (we live in CO), rivers, %26amp; their dogs as table names %26amp; they had little pictures drawn on each name card (dog = picture of their dog)

pretty cute really.
CUTE IDEA!

I saw it on some wedding show

they named their tables all the same word ';love';

but in different languages!

like amore, love, Liebe, amour
Numbering is fine, but we are naming ours for people, places, foods, and events famous to the towns we grew up in. For example, I grew up in New Mexico. We will have a ';Balloon Fiesta'; table, a ';Green Chile Table,'; etc.
numbering tables is traditional.

naming tables is a good idea, and shouldn't be difficult.

but another idea is to get pictures of you and your fiance at specific ages and use those.

i.e. pictures at age 1 for table 1, pictures at table 5 for table 5 ....

or just use the most significant ages, like 1, 5, 13, 16, 18, 21, etc.
I think that would be neat! But, we're doing a feast style reception, so we're not doing seating arrangements.
We numbered our tables, but not in any consecutive order. We just picked our favorite numbers and went with it. So even though the tables were numbered according to numerical order as they were situated (table 3 was towards the front, while table 52 was at the back), if someone was assigned table 33, and we only had 12 tables, then table 33 was near the back (near table 47). Guests didn't seem to have any trouble finding their correct spot, but if you're having a lot of guests (we had just a little over 100), you may want to be more traditional about numbering, especially if you have a lot of older people attending (they'll have enough trouble getting to their seat without getting lost).

If you're going for theme table names, and there's nothing else besides the table name sign to identify it (the ';rose'; table with roses on it, the ';tulip'; table with tulips on it, etc), then you should have someone helping direct people to their tables, otherwise people will undoubtedly have trouble. Or, if you can't spare a person to direct folks to their tables, you could have a giant seating arrangement drawing with the tables names clearly marked, but even that could be difficult for people who can't read diagrams very well.
