I know about the manuel numbering but isn't there an easier way to number the every page of an entire document?
Would appreciate any help.Is there a setting on OpenOffice that allows numbering all of a document's pages at once?
First, you want a header or footer.
The best way is to press F11. This brings up the “Styles and Formatting” dialog box. The fourth icon in the icon row at the top coves page styles which is where you define headers and footers. Make sure the single line panel at the bottom reads “All''.
One of the page styles will be highlighted. This is the page style being used on your current page. It will probably be “Default''. Right-click on it and select “Modify”.
The “Page Style” dialog box for the “Default” page style will pop up. Select the “Header” window and make sure “Header on” is checked. Select the “Footer” windows and make sure “Footer on” is checked. Set any other settings you wish. Then mouse-press the “OK” button.
Press F11 again to close the dialog box, or click on its close button in the upper right-hand corner.
You will see the header and footer and the top and bottom of the page. Anything you type in them will appear on every page. If you want something to change within the header and footer, then you insert a field into the header or footer. You can align the field in the header left, center, or right, just like your align text or use tabs.
Just put your cursor in the header or footer where you want the page number to appear, and select from the main menu Insert → Fields → Page Count. Now a page count will appear on every page in the header or footer, wherever you have placed it
You can also type “ of ” after the page number field and then select Insert → Fields → Page Count to produce a message something like “2 or 39”. The field will have a gray background on screen, but that won’t show when it prints. Or you can get rid of the gray background on screen if you want by unchecking View → Field Shadings.
You can also change the style of the page number in the normal way you change fonts. But there are some special styles also available. Select Insert → Fields → Other..., select the “Document” tab, select “Page” and choose a style from the far column. You can also select from a smaller number of page number styles by press F11 again and going into the “Page” dialog box again.
If you want to be fancier, insert a Frame into the Header, insert the page number field into the frame, and then drag the fame down into the text. It will appear in the same position from the header on every page.
Note, you are not getting full value from OpenOffice.org if you don’t use the Help and at least scan through its manual.
The manual is available at http://documentation.openoffice.org/manu… . Or just go into Google and type “OpenOffice” a space, then then whathatever you want to find, and usually lots of articles will come up. For example, type [OpenOffice ';page numbering';] (without the square brackets. Is there a setting on OpenOffice that allows numbering all of a document's pages at once?

Insert Header then insert field, page number and it automatically numbers all pages. Nowhere near as good as Word.
If you insert a page number in the header or footer, you'll have all the pages numbered.
