How can I apply page numbering in Microsoft Word that starts on page two with the number ';2';, and continues?

I need to write a MLA guideline essay, and one of those guidelines is the one above. How can I go about this?

I know how to use page numbering, but I can't get the page to delete the first page number. How can I apply page numbering in Microsoft Word that starts on page two with the number ';2';, and continues?
In Page Setup go to the last tab and in the headers and footers section select ';different first page';.

Then include the page number in a header or footer on page 2. You can then use the ';format page number'; button to make the page numbering start at 2 (if necessary)How can I apply page numbering in Microsoft Word that starts on page two with the number ';2';, and continues?
I'm not exactly sure of what your problem is, it sounds like you don't want a page number displayed on the first page.

If that is the case you have to modify your header or footers depending on where your page numbers are. I'll assume footer since that is the usual location.

First, double click the footer on page 2. In the header/footer toolbar deslect ';Same As Previous';. This will leave the page 2, and onwards, footer as it is and allow you to change the page 1 footer.

In the Header/Footer toolbar use the buttons to go to the page one footer. In there, edit it and remove the page number.

Does that give you what you want?
