In Jan 2009 all tv signals must be received in homes in digitized fashion. What numbering system will be used to transmit digitized television signals? What numbering system will be used to transmit digitized television signals?
binaryWhat numbering system will be used to transmit digitized television signals?
The current US system is:
CC.ss
where CC is the stations' ANALOG channel number. Their actual channel may be different but, the FCC decided this would create less confusion. The system is set up so that the user can't really tell the actual channel number anyway.
ss is the Sub Channel number. The main channel is always ';1';. If any sub channels are present, they will be assigned a number from 2 and up by the broadcaster.
So 60.1 would be the main channel for Channel 60, 5.2 would be sub channel 2 of channel 5, etc.
I hope this helps. Please return and select a Best Answer from all of those submitted.
Do you mean station channel numbering? If so, that won't change--channel 4 will still be channel 4, etc. Even though the transmitter frequency is not the same as it was, the station will still call itself by the old analog number.
