How doese the street numbering system in LA work?

i live on 1st street in Long beach. i have followed the street numbers all the way to 50th street. How far doese it go? Doese it go all the way to Downtown Los Angeles? Is the 103rd street metro station on the same numbering system?How doese the street numbering system in LA work?
Many beach cities such as Manhattan Beach, Long Beach, and Santa Monica number the streets starting by the ocean, then increase as you go inland. However, once you reach a city boundary, the other city is free to name streets whatever way they want.





In LA, the east-west streets start at downtown and go south, up into the 150's. No, 103rd street is not the same as the numbered streets in long beach.





I always heard that they give streets numbers for people too dumb to read the words.How doese the street numbering system in LA work?
It changes all over the place because greater LA has over 100 cities. I have been here 8 years and I no not count on it at all.
