Can i create a word template with automatic numbering?

I need to make a word or even excel based template where I can add in various details but have it numbered. e.g The first page i save should have 0001 at the top of the page. The next time I use the template I want it to have automatically changed to 0002, then 0003 and so on. Does anyone know how to do this. Step by step instructions would be fantastic. I use Office 2007 btw.

I'm not familiar with Word 2007, but this wasn't possible with earlier versions.





Some Visual Basic programming in the template might be able to accomplish what you want, though.
